Everything I needed to learn in life . . .

unicyclingDamn. I didn’t even know I had this photo. Not a great shot, and what’s with the hands and the askew helmet? But, it does remind me that everything I needed to learn in life I learned while unicycling (which was my 40th-birthday gift to myself 12 years ago).  And I share that with you in my nonfiction book, Food for My Daughters (of all places). Plus, the whole learning-to-unicycle process (six weeks until I could knock out a mile, including lots of bruises and the need to repaint a wall) served as critical research for my Young Adult novel, Spokesgirl.
