There was a wave of people heading to Ebenezer Baptist Church yesterday morning. The new one, not the original one across the street where Dr. Martin Luther King preached, which is now a museum, free and open to the public (as is the MLK Center for Nonviolent Social Change, the MLK Memorial, and MLK’s childhood home, all within spitting distance of each other). Many wore their Sunday best. Many knew each other. Many lingered outside and talked to reporters. There was peace and pride and a sense of place. A whole wave of it. Right there on Auburn Avenue.
