I increasingly feel unwanted there since other white people have been circling around, scooping up foreclosures near the Atlanta BeltLine, now under construction. They also come with corporate foundations and tell local communities where and how to spend grants. They come as paid employees of the “good food” and other “sustainability” nonprofits, while our urban farmers lose their land and can’t support their families. They come with good intentions, as do I. But even though I was invited and I made a promise to document change, I wonder if I am nothing more than an interloper as well.
