They are walking around wearing blankets like Superhero capes, but they are not Superheroes. They are people, and they are cold. They have nowhere to live, and the little slice of space they call home is now being privatized as well. Where do people go when where they live is “cleaned up” and they are considered the garbage? I saw a man buy a cup of tea today just so he could sit inside a “private” market spitting distance from where people covered with their Superhero capes are sleeping, just so he could be warm. I don’t think he realized anyone noticed. When I gave him half my lunch, he looked at me with disbelief. Then, he smiled. Then, he cried. Then I did, too. There has to be a better way. There has to be a better way.
