It has been six months since I started riding my bikes with a pool noodle sticking three feet out to the left in the back so that drivers would stop trying to kill me by passing too aggressively and closely when I ride in dangerous suburbia. It has resulted in an almost-100-percent change in driver behavior (there have been two honks in all that time; that’s it). And yet, I seem to be the only person in the USA who is doing this.
