Yesterday, I passed the convicted sexual predator, Robert McKensie, right before my bike ride to the new street murals on Wylie Street in Atlanta. He has a history of chasing women on bikes and has been stopped by police officers in the past and found to have a knife and a bag full of metal bars with him. The police let him go and he continues to threaten women. And this is somehow just going to continue until something “bad” happens. As a woman on the street on a bike, I am deeply concerned. Yet then I see the murals and the women depicted are strong and powerful and I know we will one day say enough of this bullshit and take back our public spaces known as streets. That day is not today, but it is coming.
